Not only did our daughter keep pace, she has excelled in Ms. I have never seen a more committed and caring teacher. Tomorrow is the last day of the school year here and we are very sad to be leaving. I have to say that our concerns could not have been more unfounded. We were initially concerned that our daughter would not receive enough support here to make sure she was prepared to move into the Maryland school system for 3rd grade. Luckily we got an excellent first grade teacher who put a lot of extra time and effort in with our daughter but she was still a little behind the curve in reading fluency going into second grade. I am a firm believer that an EXCEPTIONAL teacher will teach in the way that a student learns and not expect all children to fit a convenient mold.
We had a very difficult kindergarten year in Ga. We had moved from a very "test" oriented school, one of the "best" in Georgia, meaning that the school would focus mainly on the more advanced students who performed better in math and reading. Initially we were hesitant about enrolling our daughter into Coosada Elementary. We are a military family coming from Georgia and only here for one school year before heading to Maryland which has a very advanced curriculum. it sad when you hear your child say they cant stand the teacher and doesn't want to be in the classroom, if you do a conference they cut it short unless the principle is involved. it sad you have to have a third party to turn in homework because the teacher loses his work. like really? The teacher don't want to deal with problem kids me and the principle have been working on a constant basis to resolve the issue and have done everything to fix his grades and she still failing him and giving 0 in completed class work. One teacher has been failing my son from the very beginning I have taken my son to behavioral classes and getting him tested for possible adhd, but when you see your child doing what he is suppose to be doing class on every surprise visit and the principle see the same thing and also witness the teacher argue with the child on class work and argue with the principle. Aweful 5th grade teachers, they don't want to do their job and accused the student of being lazy I have had so many meeting with the principle and teacher it not funny im fed up with how the teacher are treating my son and agree the teacher promote bullying, and dismiss the issue.
